Presently, Mishkat Publishing is concentrating on novel-length fiction manuscripts for
adults, young adults, children, and children’s picture books. Our primary criteria are
that the work be well-written, appropriate to its particular age group category, and
portrays practicing Muslims as its primary characters. We are looking for fresh,
vivacious work that is inspiring, thought-provoking, or offers some sort of learning
experience. We want original, intellectually stimulating, captivating characters and
storylines, and we hope to find work that is cleverly written. Our goal is to combine
entertainment with education. Writing should be carefully edited to avoid misspellings,
grammatical errors, and incorrect punctuation.
We are currently looking to expand in the following areas: Islamic fiction, historical
fiction, Islamic romance (portraying courtship and marriage according to Islamic
guidelines). We are particularly interested in series collections.
If you have illustrated the work or have a particular illustrator in mind, please include
the illustration(s). If you have an idea of the way in which you imagine the work should
be illustrated, include a brief written description of your vision for the work.
We will try to turn the manuscript around as quickly as possible--usually a period of
one to two months. If you have submitted your manuscript to other publishing houses
simultaneously, please make us aware of that circumstance.
